Jesse Robredo: Huwaran ng Kabataang Pilipino
Four years after his untimely demise, Kaya Natin founder Jesse M. Robredo remains an inspiration to many because of his simplicity, integrity and tsinelas leadership-- a genuine leader who listens, reaches out and empowers those in the fringes of society.
One of the many wonderful stories about Jesse’s leadership that inspires others to follow him is how he cleans up the streets of Naga city after a typhoon. Wearing working clothes and slippers, Jesse would be the first out on the streets to clean, inspiring his people to also go out, sweep the streets with him, and do their part, be it small, for their beloved Naga.
This is the inspiration behind the Jesse Robredo: Huwaran ng Kabataang Pilipino, a youth-led cleanup activity on August 20, 2016. Inspired by Jesse, the activity encourages the youth to take action, do their share by cleaning their community, and encourage them to take the challenge to run for SK.
What:
Wearing slippers and #LiveLikeJesse pins, participants will hold a youth-led clean up drive
When:
August 20, 2016, 7:00-9:00 am
Who:
Kaya Natin Champions, Members, Youth, Volunteers, and anyone who wants to do a cleanup drive in their own communities as tribute to Jesse
Why:
Kaya Natin hopes to send a message for government leaders to lead with honesty, integrity, as well as forego corruption and dirty practices through the cleanup drive. Likewise, the activity hopes to encourage the youth to run for SK and take the challenge of being the next tsinelas leaders in their communities.
