We have officially launched our video series “Politics of Hope: Stories of Outstanding Mayors in the Philippines” last April 24 at QCX, Quezon Memorial Circle, Quezon City. Not only were we able to show video features on three exceptional leaders--Mayor Alfredo Coro II of Del Carmen, Siargao Islands; Mayor Carolyn Farinas of San Felipe, Zambales; and Mayor Flora Villarosa of Siayan, Zamboanga del Norte--with good practices in their municipalities; we were also fortunate enough to invite them and personally say their words of inspiration and encouragement to our guests in the event.
There is a common secret behind their success stories: the genuine concern to improve the lives of the people. If the leader has the heart to serve the country, then it creates a ripple effect to the people around them, as evident from what these mayors have shared to us. Hopefully, this ripple effect could transcend the geographical boundaries, beyond the municipalities these mayors have, until we are able to transform the whole country--which is what the video series aims. By featuring good practices in our local government units, we not only want to give hope to everyone that there are still good leaders in our country, but also inspire other leaders, the existing and even the aspiring ones, to emulate them and be the one to take the first step towards change in their own communities.
